I finished this little one early last month. She's also the first one I've completed this year. She's about two and a half inches tall so that's fairly small for me. I'd like to try and make some even smaller ones this year though!
Thank you very much. The body is sculpted from polymer clay and the hair in this instance is Tibetan lambs wool, I think mohair might be the same thing.. Hair can be made with a lot of different materials though.
Painting these is pretty simple and fun. The primary color on her body, the dark sparkly brown, is the actual color of the clay. The blushing is painted on using a cotton swab, I start with thin paint and keep adding layers until it looks the way I want, and then the smaller details like eyes and fingernails are just painted normally with a brush.
Wow. I always thought you painted the skintone, but that's quite handy! I also think I've seen that kind of colored clay in shops and wondered what could be made of them. I think I'll try and make some small figures of my own fauns, as soon as I have the time. (School, ugh.) Thanks!
